How to take care of your skin?

With work, family and so many other things going on with our daily lives some of us can be overwhelmed and not have enough time for things like taking care of our skin. If this is your case and you still want to maintain a healthy and beautiful skin, there are some simple habits you can maintain to keep a healthy skin.

We should remember that keeping a healthy beautiful skin is important in many ways. Not only does it improve your appearance by making your skin healthier and more beautiful but perhaps even more importantly it delays natural aging and prevents a number of other skin problems.

You can start by perhaps the most important habit which is protecting yourself from the sun. Excessive sun exposure can damage the skin in many ways. Sun can cause wrinkles, spots, increase the risk of skin cancer and many other problems.

One of the best ways you can protect your skin from sun damage is using a sunscreen. You should always use a sunscreen that has a SPF of at least 15 and apply the sunscreen abundantly at least every two hours.

Other simple habits that can be done to protect yourself from excessive sun can be things like avoiding hours when the sun is at its strongest and wearing clothes that protects you.

The sun is usually at its peak between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. If you are out in the sun during these hours make sure you have plenty of sunscreen on your skin, stay in the shade if possible and wear protective clothing like hats to protect yourself.

You should also limit the time you spend in showers and baths. Hot water removes essential oils from our skin that are there for protection. Also, make sure you select the type of soap you use carefully.

Strong soaps also remove those essential oils that our skin needs for protection, so it is better to choose soaps that are more delicate. Also, it is recommended that you apply moisturizers especially if you want to take care of your dry skin.

Your eating habits and diet are also very important when it comes to keeping a healthy skin. Although not certain there could be a link between acne and unhealthy eating habits. Try eating more fruits and vegetables and reduce the amount of unhealthy fats you consume. Also make sure you drink plenty of water since drinking water makes your skin more hydrated.

Smoking is also something that you should not do if you want to have a healthy skin. Smoking causes blood vessels in outer layer of skin to narrow which causes decrease of blood flow. The decrease in blood flow in the outer layers of your skin makes your skin more faded. Smoking also uses up all the nutrients and oxygen which are essential in a healthy skin. So, if you want to not have wrinkles and have a healthy skin make sure you do not smoke!
