Wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin that appear on the skin of your face are due to structural changes in the skin. These structural changes are usually due to skin damage and effects of ageing on the skin. Due to the continuous exposure of the skin on our face it is one of the areas of the skin that is most effected and damaged. These skin changes and damages suffered by the skin on the face are due to its exposure to environmental factors and aging. In addition, other factors such as, nutrition, your skincare routine and hormones play a role.

The advances in skincare

In recent years there has been great advances in the skincare industry. These great advances have shed light into how the skin regenerates itself in addition to its structural changes. The results have enabled us to know how to prevent and repair skin damage. Let’s now dig deeper into some specific details which can help us have a healthier skin and one which is radiant and more youthful looking.

Abstain from things that can damage your skin

As we have discussed in previous articles about the effects of aging on our skin our skin’s ability to heal and regenerate from damage is compromised as we age. Therefore, we must focus on doing things that help to reduce and avoid things that can damage the skin. Some of the things we can do include changes in dietary habits such as avoiding smoking & second-hand smoke, avoid too much alcohol and not consuming too much sugar and salt. Others can be labelled as changes in lifestyle habits such as avoiding excessive exposure to the sun, not taking long hot showers, not swimming in chlorinated pools, and avoiding stress.

In addition, our makeup also plays a part when it comes to damage that can occur to the skin.  Make sure not to wear and apply too much makeup and also make sure to clean your makeup before going to sleep.  Also make sure not to exfoliate and wax the skin too much since they can both damage the skin.

Creating a solid plan to protect your skin is essential

In our previous blogs we have discussed many aspects of a proper skincare regimen. These steps aim to help the skin to be able to regenerate and provide it further protection. Some of these steps can be linked to your diet. Drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy and balanced diet, taking nutritional supplements if you need them. Our skincare routine and what we apply to our skin also play key roles when it comes to providing our skin with further protection. Make sure to apply sunscreen, moisturiser, and a lip balm or a damage skin repair cream if you have damaged skin. Furthermore, you can protect your skin more by wearing clothing that protect your skin from the sun, getting enough sleep and exercising. Specifically, when it comes to exercise make sure that you sweat when you exercise since sweating is important. By sweating our skin is left glowing and shining. But even more important by sweating we improve the blood circulation throughout our body. The improvement that better blood circulation provides to the skin is giving it a heathy glow from inside out. Having a proper blood flow enables oxygen and nutrients to circulate better and provide better nourishment to the skin.
